Drainage systems

Drainage planning is part of the planning of traffic systems but, in conjunction with domestic and area drainage systems, it is also a part of the basic engineering services that must be coordinated for the location concerned.

These must often be planned in advance down to a certain level of detail when drawing up building plans and agreed with the authorities before work begins.

Drainage systems is a term that covers sewage, rainwater and mixed water pipes as well as basin systems for retention and/or cleaning. Dirty water is also drained over paved areas of traffic infrastructure and, before it is fed into a body of water or rainwater pipes, it must be cleaned in settling ponds or clarification tanks/shafts.

For classified road networks, the drainage systems are approved in the course of the planning approval process (service phase 4).
